StorFirst Altus software is a Windows-based application which can replicate
an EMC Centera archive in native-CAS-format to a VTL or a tape library for
compliant disaster recovery purposes. Single-Centera, replicated-Centera-pairs,
or Centera-farms can be protected with cost-effective, mobile media which can
be stored/vaulted off-site. StorFirst Altus supports VTL/tape library
partitioning, so existing investments in backup infrastructure can be fully
leveraged and shared.
StorFirst Altus is natively integrated with the API of the Centera and can
agnostically replicate and restore all objects stored on a Centera (or its
virtual pools), regardless of the application which originally created the
data. Static data on the Centera is replicated efficiently to VTL/tape just
once, not copied over and over again as done by "typical" backup
applications designed for primary-disk environments. Flexible restore jobs can
be set up to restore "all," restore "by date range," or restore
just one or more "single objects." Connectivity to the Centera is
accomplished via TCP/IP and connectivity to the VTL or tape library is
accomplished via SCSI or fibre-channel.
StorFirst Altus was purpose-built for the EMC Centera. Without any NDMP
complexity and with its automatic configuration wizards which detect the
storage hardware on the network, users can go from installation to replication
within minutes.
