Most enterprise content management systems lack the key functionality necessary to manage source code. In addition, the process to deploy application releases, which includes both content and source code, is often laborious and error-prone, requiring communication and organization across the enterprise.
As a result, content management initiatives that include custom application components are costly and complicated to deploy. Also, nearly all current source code systems are installed on separate systems with their own hardware, software, administrative, training, and maintenance cost centers.
Built on the EMC Documentum content management platform, Armedia C3 enables organizations to use Documentum as both the content and source code repository. Users can now, for the first time, manage the creation of their custom source code and content applications through the Documentum platform.
C3 combines the benefits of a source code management platform and the full functionality of EMC Documentum solutions to provide a mechanism for storing, managing, and deploying source code along with enterprise Web content. By managing all aspects of an application's assets within the EMC Documentum repository, enterprises can achieve significant savings compared to the traditional infrastructure, maintenance, and training costs required before C3.
C3, a customized Web development kit (WDK) application, provides all necessary functionality to manage source code. Users can create source code projects, perform recursive library actions, manage the creation and scheduled execution of source code builds, access the repository via Eclipse IDE, execute advanced reports on repository activity, configure the locking model, and restore deleted items.
